Wow, so the weather hasn't "turned" more than a week and my kids get sick. Mia had a super snotty nose last week and was a bit grumpy. Other than just the residual phlem she is coughing up, she seems a lot better. It takes a lot to get my little bruiser down.
Keira on the other hand, seems a bit more fragile. I went to Costco today, while the girls were napping and when I got home Keira was awake but did NOT look good. She just had that sick look in her eyes and all of her spunk was gone. I took her temp and it was 101.3. Not terrible, but not great, either. I just felt bad for her. She wanted to go outside and play in her swing SO bad that she tried convincing me she felt better. She even ran around with Mia a bunch and almost did have me convinced - other than she still felt warm to me.
I went outside to pick some veggies and when I came in she was laying on Trav's lap - obviously all of that running around had quickly worn her out. Poor little bug. The worst part is that she is the flower girl in our friends wedding this weekend so I am praying for a speedy recovery.
Okay - now speaking of not so little bugs, I mentioned I went outside to pick some veggies. I have been really hesitant to go out there because of all the HUGE spiders around this time of year. They all seem to make webs in between my tomato plants. I noticed today that they all seemed to be gone. The webs were partially still there, but no spiders. VERY cool. I picked and picked and got more confident as I carefully looked and saw that where there used to be spiders, there were no more. I finally got to the last bunch of tomatoes that are over by our yard. I was kneeling down picking through the tomatoes when I looked down and running across my SHIRT was a HUGE spider. I screamed at the top of my lungs, threw the tomatoes and started running back and forth across my yard. If anybody was watching, it must have been quite a scene. I was shaking my hair and my clothes and dancing around and I really just wanted to rip my shirt off JUST IN CASE it was still there and was going to crawl around inside. Fortunately, a little bit of sense came over me and I ran in the garage before I took my shirt off. I was totally re-inacting the scene from Tommy Boy, "BEES, BEES EVERYWHERE!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!" I even knocked my glasses off in my frantic shaking and brushing to make sure that gi-nor-may spider was, in fact gone.
I go inside and Travis asks nonchalantly, "Did you scream?"
Why yes I did.

I AM LAUGHING SO HARD RIGHT NOW I CAN BARELY TYPE THIS. ha ha ha!!!!
OK so NOT COOL that you had a spider on your shirt. So glad it did not happen to me. I wish I was there when you were running and knocking your glasses off.
oh ha ha. I can't stop laughing. ha ha ha!!!
On another note, I am sad for Keira. I hope she bounces back FAST! My first thought was "oh no, she is in the wedding on Saturday!!!"
praying......
BEES BEES RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
ah ha, still laughing..... giggle giggle.
OMGosh I would have died! I have goose bumps and the ebbee geebee's just thinking about it.
I'm sorry about the girls. Praying everyone gets well ASAP! Gabe still is out of sorts and a little snotty. OH and my other baby got sick too. Fever, sore throat.
Love you!
Marc, you have a way of capturing a moment in time with your literary wit! I love it!
I'm so glad there's someone out there who does the same thing. Now Jake is scared of spiders from watching his mother flail around the yard like a mad woman. The spiders are moving in doors too - I even had one crawl on my arm when I was sitting on the couch, talk about freaking out! I jumped up like I was having a seizure - Rob and Amber looked at me like I'd lost my mind until they figured out the cause of the commotion.
Sounds like the girls have what my boys have too. Jake had a 101 degree temp Sunday night and most of Monday. He's much better today. Sammy has the runny nose thing too. I'm mourning the end of summer. Sigh.
Seems to be what goes around the second the weather changes. I hate seeing summer go, too. I'm trying to resolve to have a good attitude this winter and do fun stuff...hopefully the kids won't be sick TOO much. Last year was terrible.
I didn't know you were a blogger, Tara!
